Basic description: Ultimate Countdown is our new, ORIGINAL, game show that offers the perfect combination of speed and knowledge, with fast paced action for a wide range of game show events. When playing the game, the countdown lights flash on the screen, and all of players have multiple opportunities to be the first to buzz in and earn points by identifying any one of up to eight correct answers to each question. Countdown typically incorporates 3 or 4 player positions but will work with up to 16. Since the players at each of the positions can represent a team, everyone is part of the fun. Countdown is great in both corporate and social applications. In a corporate environment this is the perfect game to reinforce company policies and goals, teach sales techniques, learn about new products, or just to have fun.
Details: Basic concept of the game: Questions are asked that have between
two and eight correct answers. The correct answers are hidden in the software
and displayed only when guessed by the contestants. After contestants are in
position at the player positions this is the sequence of events for game play:
The host reads the question from a cue sheet. Example: What are the top
five customer service initiatives for 2011? As the question above is read
the buttons on the player position consoles are “released” (unlocked) and anyone
at any of the player positions can buzz in. Note: only the first button
hit can buzz in, the other buttons become inactive when one player position is
locked out (AKA buzz in). If the answer given by the contestant is
correct, they get points and the answer is displayed on their player position
display. If the answer is not one of the five possible correct answers they get
an “X” and lose points. The point value for all correct answers is the same for
each of the correct answers (usually 500 points). There is also a preset value
for points deducted for wrong answers (150 points deducted usually works well). From this point on, until all of the possible answers are guessed the
host says: Start the countdown. There are a set of lights that are displayed
and flash, RED, YELLOW, YELLOW, GREEN. When the lights get to the green, the
player position hit buttons are automatically released and any of the players
can buzz in. The lights sometimes countdown quickly and other times move
slowly.
The last two events are repeated until all of the
correct answers are guessed and shown.
Please note: Sometimes no one will push the hit button to buzz in because they
don’t have a guess or they don’t want to use points. The host can lead
them by giving hints or clues to help the contestants. In addition, we
have a funny “Chicken” that appears on the screen when no one buzzes in.
Any remaining answers are shown to the contestants and audience before we move
on to the next question.
