Game Show Service Debuts on Celebrity Cruises, The Game Show Source

Recently we had the pleasure of spending a week aboard the magnificent Celebrity
Eclipse as we launched the first in a series of game show systems that will be featured on all nine of the
Celebrity Cruise Ships.

We arrived in our cabin to find champagne, fresh fruit and flowers waiting for us.   Our bags were quickly unpacked and we headed up to the Celebrity Central on Deck 4 to meet with the activities director and find out what shows we would be hosting.  Our objective was not only to entertain the guests on board but also to train the activities staff on running the game shows, along with filming a tutorial video explaining the software program, set up, and best methods for conducting the game shows that would also be distributed to the other ships.

After our meeting we had some free time to walk around and admire the beauty and attention to detail that was evident everywhere on this spectacular ship.

At 4:15 the Sailaway party began poolside and we were on our way to San Juan, Puerto Rico.  With a tall drink in hand, we watched the Miami skyline fade into the distance.  Later that evening, we enjoyed a gourmet meal in the Moonlight Sonata restaurant before heading to the Grand Foyer to rock out to the amazing sounds of D’Revelation party band.

The next morning we got up bright and early to prepare for hosting Star Power, the new interactive game of luck and knowledge.  Everyone had fun cheering on the contestants and trying to win the grand prize.  We thanked our contestants and audience for participating and invited them back for the next in a series of game shows we would be hosting during the cruise. The rest of the day we were at sea so we had plenty of time to enjoy cooking demonstrations, wine tasting, hot glass blowing, lawn games and a dazzling musical show in the Eclipse Theater.

Soon after sunrise, we docked in colorful Old San Juan, famous for its history and culture, shopping and dining.  We grabbed our camera and some SPF 30 and set out on foot for Castillo San Felipe del Marro, a dramatic fortress rising over San Juan Bay, dating back to 1539.  We were able to take in a full day of sightseeing, ending with the always popular Senor Frogs for a frozen cocktail before heading back to the ship.

As night fell we were on our way to Philipsburg, St. Maarten, a colorful Dutch town filled with plenty of shopping, beachside bars and cafes, street musicians and open-air markets selling a variety of handmade gifts and clothing.  It was a hot and sunny day so we sampled a few of the special island beers before heading back to the ship for departure.

The next morning we found ourselves docked at Basseterre, St. Kitts, one of the oldest towns in the Eastern Caribbean.  We hired a driver to take us on a tour and give us a deeper understanding of the history and people who shaped the island.  One of the island’s most famous residents is the Vervet monkey.  Originally imported from Africa as pets, the island’s monkey population is estimated to be double the human population.  Another high point of our visit to St. Kitts was sampling the many fine rums that are locally produced, including mango, vanilla and coconut varieties.  We stocked up on all our favorites with minutes to spare before our departure.

The next two days we would be at sea, so it was “show time”.   Celebrity still had three new game shows we would be hosting.  The first one was Countdown, a fun and exciting fast-paced game.   Next we hosted the popular Game Show Mania.  We concluded our week of game shows with an encore finale of Star Power.

We enjoyed every moment of our Celebrity life, the activities, the events, the shows, the crew, the food, and the ship itself.

We hope all future Celebrity cruisers will have as much fun with the game shows as we did.Celebrity Eclipse

Celebrity Squares & Celebrity Tic Tac Toe-Find New Home = Lower Cost To You

For over five years our flagship production game show Celebrity Squares has resided in Las Vegas. Producing this show required our support staff to travel to Las Vegas, load the set onto a 24 foot truck and drive it to our venue, which could be anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. In an effort to “go green” and save on production costs, we have reformatted the set so it will effectively ship to anywhere in the U.S. or Canada via tractor trailer. This enables it to travel with other goods to its destination which saves fuel, money, time and labor. We have also moved the set to our new company warehouse in Pompano Beach, Florida, which makes logistics a breeze. We are happy to announce we can now pass these savings along to you. Whether it’s across town or across the country, we’ll get it there cheaper and quicker. We’d like you to consider Celebrity Squares for your next event.

Whirlwind Game Show Tour takes us to Buffalo, New York; Hollywood, Florida; San Diego, California; Manhattan, New York, and back to Fort Lauderdale, Florida!

The Challenge Game Show in action

The teams had fun competing and showing off their knowledge.

2011 has certainly started out with a bang for The Game Show Source.  Game show productions really kicked into high gear around the middle of January when Marc and I flew to Buffalo, New York to produce and host The Challenge game show for Independent Health located in Williamstown, New York, just outside Buffalo.  This highly respected company is a health insurance provider that has received numerous awards for their quality health care plans and customer service.
The Challenge game show provided them with the prefect event to inform, educate and motivate their employees.  An overnight snowfall didn’t deter anyone from arriving early to pack the ballroom at Samuel’s Grande Manor.  The use of six large screens made it easy for everyone in attendance to see the fun interaction and competition unfold.  We played a twenty minute round of The Challenge game show which had the contestants answering clues in the form of a question, just like you see on the very popular TV game show Jeopardy.  Marc did an excellent job as host and every aspect of the show was perfect.  As soon as we were done we packed up our gear and headed to the airport.  We got a seat on the next flight home and were back in Fort Lauderdale that afternoon to begin preparing for our next show.
The following day started with a show at an elementary school in Hollywood, Florida.  The Face-Off! game show was scheduled for forty-five minutes, but it was so popular that we extended it an extra half hour to make sure that every student had a chance to play.  It was great seeing all kids participate.  One of the benefits of the game show format being featured in a school is creating a fun way to learn.
The next morning we were back on a plane to San Diego, California.   We were heading to the Hilton Bayfront which is located literally next-door to the San Diego Convention Center and just steps away from the charming Seaport Village with its unique shops and distinctive restaurants.  Across the street was the famous Gaslamp Quarter where you can find stylish boutiques, a myriad of eateries and PetCo Park where the San Diego Padres play their games.
We had a few hours the next morning to enjoy the blue sky and warm sunshine.  As soon as Sir Richard Branson, founder and president of the Virgin Group concluded his keynote speech, it was time to kick into high gear and get ready for our show.   The Challenge game show looked incredible since we were using a 12 by 72 foot screen across the entire stage.  Our contestants were CEOs of worldwide hotel chains who were attending the ALIS Conference.   Debbi Fields of Mrs. Fields Cookies fame made a surprise appearance to award the final trophies to the winners.  This is the tenth year we have done this show and every year it gets better.  Our thanks to Mike Watt of American Audio Visual Center and his professional crew who took this production over the top.  Everything from the sound, lighting, video and special effects was state of the art!
The next morning wake up call was at 4:00 a.m. to catch a flight from San Diego to New York City for my next game show.  The flight was delayed due to snow in New York.   We boarded the plane and headed out, only to be called back from the tarmac after a forty-five minute delay.  The captain made the dreaded announcement that our flight was cancelled.  They pulled the plane back up to the gate and we deplaned.  A few phone calls later I was able to secure a seat on a Delta flight that put me in the City at 10:00 that night.   I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the City Club Hotel.  I was not familiar with this property but the front desk staff was very welcoming and they even upgraded my room at no charge.  The staff went out of their way to accommodate me by printing numerous pages of last minute show questions and other documents at no charge.  There was even an excellent restaurant located on the street level which meant I didn’t have to venture out in the ice and snow.

Contestants having fun playing Ultimte Countdown

As you can see, the contestants had a great time representing thier teams while playing Ultimate Countdown.

The Ultimate Countdown game show was being held at the Cornell Club about a block away from my hotel.  Set-up and a quick run through with the client was Friday afternoon.  All of the content for the questions was provided by the client and pertained to their business.  Ultimate Countdown was the perfect game show for this application because all of the questions had between three and eight possible correct answers.   Everyone had a great time playing the game.  The competition was fierce.  The team scores were tracked on separate software which was loaded on a second computer and the transition between the two computers was smooth.  The way we distribute the points after each question keeps everyone in the game all the way to the very end.  The client asked bonus questions so the team with the lowest score could catch up if they answered the question correctly.
After the show I had limited time to tear down the equipment.  I provided all of the sound equipment, video projector and screen, and of course the Game Show player positions and software.  All of the gear needed to be boxed up for return to our warehouse in Pompano Beach, Florida.  I had very limited time to catch my flight out of the Newark airport.  I needed to get back home because we had a Fabulous Feud a/k/a Friendly Feud game show at The Township in Coconut Creek, Florida the following morning.
Coconut Creek, Florida is a suburb of Fort Lauderdale that has been rated the 48th best small city in the United States by Money Magazine.  We were asked to provide our Friendly Feud game in the Theatre at The Township for the annual Township Day which is a special day full of fun, food and activities for all the residents.  The competition was open to everyone in attendance.  The different clubs who are part of the Township, and even the TCMA Board of Directors got in on the action.  At the conclusion prizes were awarded which consisted of gift cards and free tickets to upcoming musical productions at the Theatre.
The Game Show Source can be part of your next big event.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you to all of our clients for a great 2010

As we reflect on 2010 and look forward to 2011, we want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our awesome clients for making it a great year. In fact, this nineteenth year in the game show production business was our best year ever. We have increased our business by over 90% this year and 2011 looks even more promising. In 2010 we produced shows all over Florida, up and down the east coast of the US, and in great cities like Las Vegas, New York, Chicago and Dallas, just to name a few. We had a great time working with the New Kids On The Block and the Backstreet Boys. It was fun and exciting to do Game Shows in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Mexico this year as well. The addition of new video projectors and screens, Audience Response Systems and several new Game Show packages to our production offerings has really opened new windows of opportunity.
All of us at Good Times Game Show Mania (AKA The Game Show Source) wish you and your family a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011.

They love the fast paced action, the lights, the sounds, and of course The Chicken (you have to see the game to know what I mean). We have added new signs for the various game shows and built new set pieces to enhance many of the other game as well.
We have exceeded all projections and expectations for 2010 and we already see many signs that 2011 will be even better. We want to thank our many great new and repeat clients that have made this growth possible.

Good Times Game Show Mania-The Game Show Source introduces our ORIGINAL new game

Ultimate Countdown is our new, game show that offers the perfect combination of speed and knowledge, with fast paced action for a wide range of game show events.

When playing the game, the countdown lights flash on the screen, and all of players have multiple opportunities to be the first to buzz in and earn points by identifying any one of up to eight correct answers to each question.

Countdown typically incorporates 3 or 4 player positions but will work with up to 16.  Since the players at each of the positions can represent a team, everyone is part of the fun.

Countdown is great in both corporate and social applications. In a corporate environment this is the perfect game to reinforce company policies and goals, teach sales techniques, learn about new products, or just to have fun.

Below is a two minute video of Ultimate Countdown in action to demonstrate how the game plays.
