Game Show Service Debuts on Celebrity Cruises, The Game Show Source

Recently we had the pleasure of spending a week aboard the magnificent Celebrity
Eclipse as we launched the first in a series of game show systems that will be featured on all nine of the
Celebrity Cruise Ships.

We arrived in our cabin to find champagne, fresh fruit and flowers waiting for us.   Our bags were quickly unpacked and we headed up to the Celebrity Central on Deck 4 to meet with the activities director and find out what shows we would be hosting.  Our objective was not only to entertain the guests on board but also to train the activities staff on running the game shows, along with filming a tutorial video explaining the software program, set up, and best methods for conducting the game shows that would also be distributed to the other ships.

After our meeting we had some free time to walk around and admire the beauty and attention to detail that was evident everywhere on this spectacular ship.

At 4:15 the Sailaway party began poolside and we were on our way to San Juan, Puerto Rico.  With a tall drink in hand, we watched the Miami skyline fade into the distance.  Later that evening, we enjoyed a gourmet meal in the Moonlight Sonata restaurant before heading to the Grand Foyer to rock out to the amazing sounds of D’Revelation party band.

The next morning we got up bright and early to prepare for hosting Star Power, the new interactive game of luck and knowledge.  Everyone had fun cheering on the contestants and trying to win the grand prize.  We thanked our contestants and audience for participating and invited them back for the next in a series of game shows we would be hosting during the cruise. The rest of the day we were at sea so we had plenty of time to enjoy cooking demonstrations, wine tasting, hot glass blowing, lawn games and a dazzling musical show in the Eclipse Theater.

Soon after sunrise, we docked in colorful Old San Juan, famous for its history and culture, shopping and dining.  We grabbed our camera and some SPF 30 and set out on foot for Castillo San Felipe del Marro, a dramatic fortress rising over San Juan Bay, dating back to 1539.  We were able to take in a full day of sightseeing, ending with the always popular Senor Frogs for a frozen cocktail before heading back to the ship.

As night fell we were on our way to Philipsburg, St. Maarten, a colorful Dutch town filled with plenty of shopping, beachside bars and cafes, street musicians and open-air markets selling a variety of handmade gifts and clothing.  It was a hot and sunny day so we sampled a few of the special island beers before heading back to the ship for departure.

The next morning we found ourselves docked at Basseterre, St. Kitts, one of the oldest towns in the Eastern Caribbean.  We hired a driver to take us on a tour and give us a deeper understanding of the history and people who shaped the island.  One of the island’s most famous residents is the Vervet monkey.  Originally imported from Africa as pets, the island’s monkey population is estimated to be double the human population.  Another high point of our visit to St. Kitts was sampling the many fine rums that are locally produced, including mango, vanilla and coconut varieties.  We stocked up on all our favorites with minutes to spare before our departure.

The next two days we would be at sea, so it was “show time”.   Celebrity still had three new game shows we would be hosting.  The first one was Countdown, a fun and exciting fast-paced game.   Next we hosted the popular Game Show Mania.  We concluded our week of game shows with an encore finale of Star Power.

We enjoyed every moment of our Celebrity life, the activities, the events, the shows, the crew, the food, and the ship itself.

We hope all future Celebrity cruisers will have as much fun with the game shows as we did.Celebrity Eclipse
